CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Cogan Primary School, Penarth welcomes submissions from UK publishers for the COGAN BIODIVERSITY PICTURE BOOK AWARD 2020.

We are looking for picture books with strong themes of ecological concern for our planet, at a local or global level.

Picture books can be fiction or non-fiction.  They can be in Welsh or English.  Although we are an English medium school, our children are learning Welsh as an additional language and enjoy sharing picture books in Welsh.

The closing date for submissions is Monday 2nd December 2019. All eligible books submitted will appear on our long list and receive positive attention on Twitter.  Short listing will happen in March and the award ceremony will be held at the school in June (date tbc)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The award is for picture books only (appropriate for ages mainly 3-7 years) but may be fiction or non-fiction. We are looking for books with strong themes of ecological concern for the planet, at a local or global level.

To be eligible for the award, books need to have been published between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2019 (The last two years).

 Books submitted for the award will need to reach us by 2nd December 2019.  Please send to:  Cogan Biodiversity Picture Book Award, Cogan Primary School, Pill Street, Cogan, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan CF64 2JS

The shortlist will be drawn up in March 2020 and the winner(s) presented with their award in June. Books are voted for exclusively by the children of Cogan Primary School. 

For the purpose of this picture book award, authors and illustrators will be deemed joint winners. There is no cash prize but a special one-off trophy is being created by the children to present to the award winner(s). 

As many books as possible will be reviewed by the children on the dedicated children’s book review website www.toppsta.com

Staff and Governors of Cogan Primary School are unable to enter their own published books for the award.  GOOD LUCK!

Mae Ysgol Cogan, Penarth yn gwahodd cyhoeddwyr ledled y DU i gyflwyno llyfrau ar gyfer GWOBR LLYFR LLUNIAU BIOAMRYWIAETH COGAN 2020.

Rydym yn edrych am lyfrau lluniau gyda themâu cryf o bryderon ecolegol ar gyfer ein planed ni ar lefel lleol neu fyd-eang.

Gall y llyfrau lluniau fod yn ffuglen neu yn ffeithiol, ac yn y Gymraeg neu’r Saesneg. Er mai ysgol cyfrwng Saesneg ydym, mae ein disgyblion yn dysgu Cymraeg fel iaith ychwanegol, ac maent yn mwynhau rhannu llyfrau llun-a-stori yn y Gymraeg.

Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer cyflwyno yw Rhagfyr 2ail 2019. Bydd pob llyfr a argymhellir ac sy’n gymwys yn ymddangos ar ein rhestr hir ac yn derbyn sylw positif ar Trydar. Penderfynir ar y rhestr fer ym mis Mawrth ac fe gynhelir seremoni wobrwyo yn yr ysgol ym mis Mehefin (y dyddiad i’w gadarnhau).
